Measurements
The project Measurements provides a choreographic reflection of city life, derived from mathematical calculations of different routes and walks in the city, with the smartphone as a measuring instrument. It was used in a wide range of sensors, such as satellite navigation, accelerometer, proximity, sound, light and orientation.
The aim is to experiment with the various possibilities of recordings with the smartphone, gathering information on both ambient atmosphere and personal experiences, coupled with a study of the possible translation of the results into a sensitive visual grammar.
The raw data obtained from the sensors are collected, stored, arranged and analyzed. These results are the primary matter and make a summary of the routes traveled, reduced to numerical data that can be processed statistically. The space and area are enhanced by different information layers and redefined on the basis of the digital artistic coding.
The experiments were performed during city walks around the market in
Dunkerque, a morning walk to the bakery and a typical neighborhood route that analyzes the different times of awakenings of the city in the early morning.
A. Measuring the city – Track 004 – market in Dunkerque – July 11 – 2012
10:05:04 -> 10:14:24 -> heart rate
10:05:04 -> 10:14:24 -> urban environmental noise
10:05:04 -> 10:14:24 -> color pixel detection of the local atmosphere
Raw data – Track 004 – market in Dunkerque – July 11 – 2012

10:05:04 -> 10:14:24 -> urban environmental noise
10:05:04 -> 10:14:24 -> color pixel detection of the local atmosphere
B. Measuring the city – Track 001 – morning walk to the bakery, snow on the road – March 4 – 2013
07:30:03 -> 07:57:03 -> light and speed measurements
